About Clay Hill
Clay Hill Campground has been a quiet fixture on the edge of Sneads Ferry since 1978. Nestled among mature pines along the Intracoastal Waterway, our 30-some sites offer a different kind of coastal experience — one measured in canoe launches and sunrise coffee, not ride times and ticket prices.
We're a family-run operation. You'll likely meet the same faces at the mailbox who greeted you last summer. That's not an oversight — it's the whole point. The Outer Banks draws millions; we're for the ones who want to step off the highway and into something slower.
Whether you're dropping anchor for a long weekend or parking for a month while the season turns, Clay Hill gives you water on one side and woods on the other — and nothing in between but room to breathe.
Campsites
Every site is assigned, not first-come-first-served on the lot. We match you to a spot that fits your rig and your temperament.
Shaded by pines, some with partial water views. Each site includes a fire ring, level ground, and easy access to our bathhouse. Perfect for backpackers and weekend warriors.
Gravel pads with water and electric hookups. Sites range from compact to spacious, with options for longer stays and monthly rates. Pull-through and back-in configurations available.
What We Provide
Indoor facilities with hot showers, maintained daily. We keep them clean because we use them too.
Hookups at select RV sites — 30 and 50 amp service. Water spigots distributed throughout the park.
Easy launch to the Intracoastal Waterway. Fish, kayak, or cruise — the water is your backyard.
Fort Macon State Park and the Atlantic beaches are just minutes away. We're the quiet place to come back to.
Firewood available on-site. We also stock basic camping supplies so you don't have to make a special trip.
Bring the dog. Our wooded trails and open spaces are perfect for four-legged guests. Keep them leashed near the water.

Sneads Ferry sits between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic, giving you two coastlines without the crowds. Fort Macon, the beach towns, and the marsh trails are all within a short drive.
